Both themes are for PhoneAlarm which is a today screen app which adds usefull shortcut buttons to you screen. Both are designed to work with the service provider/bluetooth strip removed and the soft keys removed from the bottom of the today screen using VJtoggle, giving more screen space. The background tsk file (in the zip folder) which you need to drop into your “my documents” and select as a today screen background is designed to fit in with the Pocket Breeze “whatsa” theme, it should be easy to find, it’s very popular. If you don’t use Pocket Breeze then it’s a minor job to remove the line in the wallpaper.

The first is the long awaited Choc skin, thankyou for all the positive feedback for this design, sorry it’s taken so long to get it online.

The second is a re-styled theme mixing up the iphone and touch look, this is the one I’m using at the moment.

This weekend I photographed a Newfoundland dog called Whizz leaping from a rescue boat in South Wales, part of his training to be part of a Royal Navy Reserve rescue team. Today I am very pleased to see the UK’s national newspapers have done me proud and given Whizz lots of coverage.

If you have read through my posts in the photography section you will have noticed my excitement on the arrival of my Lumix LX2, over the last few months I have come to the conclusion that it was a bad buy, due more to the appeal of have a camera that had “LEICA” written somewhere on it rather than paying much attention to online reviews. as a snappy domestic compact it was OK the exposure was good the time lag was minimal and the flash worked well, BUT and for me as a photographer using pro gear daily it was a BIG but…the noise on pictures taken above 200 asa was unacceptable, even shooting RAW and working with on the image in photoshop it became apparent that unless I shot everything at 100 or 200 asa this was not the camera for me.

I have now upgraded to a Canon G7, again it’s 10 megapixels but the noise is a lot lower and it feels a lot more solid.
I have only tested it a few times but the 200mm zoom is very usefull and the ability to pop a flashgun on to the hotshoe will have it’s advantages at some point I am sure.
There are various comments on the net about the lack of RAW, this is not a problem for me so far, the main drawback for me, certainly over the Lumix, is the wide end of the zoom around 35mm, this will take some getting used to but as photographers 15 - 20 years ago managed just fine with 35mm lenses so I’ll get over it

I will post more when I’ve given it a few more tests and I’ll post some images from it.

After pairing my Ibook with my Treo 750v I spent two days shouting at my screen “why won’t you work”, I was sent numerous emails from vodafone explaining how to connect to the internet using the phone with my laptop, the only problem was that in every example they used a Sony Ericsson phone so I was not sure what driver I should use.
After searching the web I found a site explaining ways to do it using a specific or generic 3G driver…….this did NOT work.
Then I stumbled across a Treo 3G driver and as soon as it was installed and selected my phone connected and now works perfectly as a 3G connection for my Ibook.

I was covering the most recent letterbomb attack at the DVLA in Swansea this week, the press arrived in full force with my colleagues from other agencies and of course the BBC. Quite a few of the cameramen working on news for the BBC are freelancers working on daily rates and as such they have to pay a small fortune for their equiptment. My stills kit probably comes in at an average £6000 - £7000……which doesn’t even come close to the latest spec TV camera’s used by these guys, SO…we were slightly taken aback at the reporter pictured, as he stepped up preparing to deliver his live piece to camera for the lunchtime news when his cameraman pulled out his mobile phone, a 3G Nokia N90, and started framing up the reporter who, wearing the nokia’s headphones was receiving live feedback from the studio letting him know when to start his piece. It seems you don’t need to re-mortgage the house or be nice to the bank manager to buy your kit afterall. Nokia’s N90 uses a Carl Zeiss lens and uses a 2 megapixel sensor, the video output is MPEG-4.
